Share drafts

The only thing we need to figure out is how to share drafts among the students -- here is my latest idea:

1. you contact one individual and swap drafts at the same time -- so no one sits on a draft ... maybe set-up a chart -- when you are ready you click on ready -- and someone else matches your ready.

2. we avoid webcourses -- I am thinking students are not going there? -- and we make sure that everyone gets another student to review and reviews one ...

3. and we all figure out how to post the final product on the blog or linked to the blog -- I'm not sure I know how -- but I like the public quality of the blog for our assignments. So, comments on this query about how to proceed?

I'm fine with whatever works for everyone else, but there is one reason to consider using Webcourses for sharing drafts: if we all post our drafts in the Discussion forum, we can comment on each other's work as it is posted. This would also allow us to receive feedback from more than one person. Just a thought!

On posting the final product, I don't see a way to add word or pdf attachments to Blogger posts. I know that IS possible on Wordpress blogs, but I don't see it as an option here. Maybe we can each create our own Wordpress blogs for this class and post all of our work there (and publish links here)? There's probably an easier way to keep it all in Blogger, but I'm not too familiar with this platform.

I'm not all that familiar with its workings, but google documents is supposed to offer a pretty solid experience for creating and editing documents that are stored online. You can give access to the document to multiple people, who can mark up and comment on your work. As Blogger is a Google site, it's probably fairly easy to integrate the two platforms (i.e. creating a group of users who have access to a set of documents).

I log in to Webcourses daily (for other classes), but I doubt that is the case for many others.

Hi:

I agree with Meghan and think that we might want to use Webcourses for sharing drafts. We can post our drafts and comments (and maybe any other housekeeping issues/questions) to the discussion board and leave Blogger for finished products.

At least on Webcourses we have each other's emails and information and the discussion groups might help in organizing our work.

Just a suggestion...

I think a problem with splitting our attention between this blog and the webcourse is that we will quickly find our memories splintered unless we follow very strict protocols for what is posted where.

Dr. Saper just demonstrated that you can insert a JPG image in a normal blog entry, so why not each of us create our own blog for our drafts? It is easy to navigate from this blog to our individual blogs via the hyperlinks associated with our user names, if not by hyperlinks created within postings. For that matter, your personal blog for the course could consist of a hyperlink to another place such as Wordpress, Google documents, or even the webcourse.

I agree with the original procedure of posting drafts to Webcourses and using that forum for discussions, questions, comments, and then reserving the blog for finalized projects.

Hi All,

For my assignments, I am going to upload class work to my personal server and provide a link for everyone to click.

I have unlimited space on my server and can set up a private folder and server space for anyone who needs a place to upload their work.

Just let me know...my e-mail is:

My workspace blog is tatwork.blogspot.com (currently just Ong notes (in blue); still formulating the chart and timeline on easier-to-manipulate whiteboard and paper). Feel free to copy Ong quotes (does this count as helping?).

I've decided to go the Webcourses route- it seems like the path of least resistance in terms of file uploading, and lets us all post in the same place. I've got a draft timeline up there now, in case anyone wants to comment.
